חוות דעת על ספא שיזן - במלון דניאל ים המלח
היה פשוט גרוע
ולא רק זה, הם חייבו אותי ב200 שקל נוספים בטעות.
First of all I have to mention that this review is ONLY related to day-spa at Daniel Hotel and not the hotel itself.
The stay in the day spa supposed to be a treat for my sister and myself as part of her birthday celebration. Oh boy, joke was on me.
This expensive and supposedly ‘luxurious’ hotel is way below average, if not totally dissatisfactory and it’s a shame and insult both to guests, especially international who may expect something completely different for the price they pay but also to Israel that tries to become a hip tourist destination.
Upon the arrival, we were met with a typical Israeli ‘customer service’, namely lack of it. And a mess with our booking. The day before the spa called us to confirm that we are booked for treatment at 9:45. We arrived well in advance only to find out that the (horrendous) price does not include any treatments. ‘OK’ we said and went upstairs for coffee and cake which we were told by the receptionist was unlimited. Wrong. Bar staff handled us coffee and two tiny pieces of dry cake that has seen its days of freshness some time ago. This followed by information that ‘this is it’ and the concept of ‘unlimited’ was laughed at.
As we were sitting, drinking our coffee, we received a phone call telling us that we are late for our treatment. Oh great! So we do have treatment eventually. We go down to find out by the most unhelpful receptionist that it’s only one treatment. Oh, and we have to pay for it additionally. So my sister goes for a full body massage of 40 min which she says was fine. I am getting us ‘towels’ for which we got two cards for the fancy shmancy, totally unnecessary towel machine. I get us two tiny pieces of table cloth. That’s it. No more towels for us.
I come back to the reception asking where I could change, the receptionist (with the phone under her desk) points me out round the corner. Here we have lockers. Oh boy, and some lockers there are - my bag hardly fits in. Ok then, where is the key? I come back to the reception. The receptionist tells me over her WhatsApp chat on her phone that I have to pay a deposit or leave my ID. Like in some freaking hostel, not luxurious hotel for which I pay hundreds of shekels. Seriously guys, do you think I will steal your precious keys and towels? I leave my ID but my feeling is that I am most unwelcome. No one tells me where to go, what I can use, where and how which is not only unkind and unfriendly but potentially the hazard when we take into consideration that swimming pools, saunas, a gym and a slippery floors are involved.
Next is the spa itself, which is rather crammed area where you need to be prepared for the battle of sun beds (all 6 of them inside!!!! for about 20 people in the spa at the moment). There are some cheap plastic chairs where you can dump your belongings. There are of course the sun beds outside. But it’s late June just before mid day at the dessert so thanks but no thanks.
Cleanliness leaves a lot to wish for but it is perhaps because the maintenance staff is walking around in their heavy duty boots with no protection.
I hope that the lunch will be a redeeming feature so wait for the update
