Hello, yesterday four of us arrived at the Daniel Hotel in Herzliya for a fun day, which also included treatments at the Shizen Spa. We planned this day a long time in advance, especially to celebrate a birthday together, so unfortunately the disappointment was particularly great. Already at the stage of booking the treatments, we, as four friends coming together for a joint event, asked to receive the treatments at the same time. We were told that this was not possible and that only two friends could be accepted at a time. Of course we accepted this, but in retrospect we felt that with the reservation made sufficiently in advance and in the circumstances of a special event, perhaps it was possible to try and be a little more flexible. Unfortunately, the experience of the treatments themselves was also disappointing. The therapists do not speak or understand Hebrew, which makes it very difficult to communicate basicly during a treatment and to be able to explain what is pleasant, what is not, or to request a simple adjustment. One of the therapists, an elderly woman, appeared to suffer from significant weakness on one side of the body. Of course, we cannot know her medical condition and do not intend to determine it, but in terms of the experience as a patient, this was very clearly felt during the massage – most of the work and application of force was done with one hand, and the treatment did not feel as uniform or professional as we expected. In another treatment room, there was a noticeable smell of cigarettes. In addition, when I asked to reduce the foot massage a little and instead devote a few minutes to the scalp, I was told no and that it was a Swedish massage and could only be done with the hands or feet. Even without changing the nature of the entire treatment, I expected there to be some flexibility and consideration for such a simple request – but in fact, not even a short head massage was given. The point that particularly clouded the end of the day was the issue of the spa's operating hours. At no point during the day were we told that the spa closed at 6:00 PM, and that with it the cloakrooms and access to the lockers where all our personal belongings were kept would also be closed. As we understood it, as part of the fun day we could enjoy the facilities at leisure, and we planned to end the day in the jacuzzi and sauna, shower, and only then get ready and leave. Around 5:45 PM we arrived at the counter, and by chance we asked ourselves what time the spa closed. Only then were we told that closing time was at 6:00 PM and that we should hurry to shower and collect our belongings from the lockers. It is important for us to emphasize that no one from the spa staff approached us to draw our attention to the fact that the place was about to close. If we had not asked on our own initiative at that moment, we would have continued to stay in the pool and facilities with all our belongings locked in the lockers – not knowing that within minutes the locker rooms would be closing. Instead of ending a fun day at leisure, as we had expected, we found ourselves under time pressure, rushing to the jacuzzi, the sauna, the showers, and to collect our belongings. In practice, we hardly had time to enjoy the facilities, and the end of the day, which was supposed to be the relaxing and pampering part of it, became a stressful and unpleasant experience. In our opinion, when a "fun day" is sold, and especially when the operating hours of the changing rooms and lockers are limited, this information is expected to be clearly communicated at the time of booking or at the very least upon arrival at the spa – and not for guests to discover it by chance fifteen minutes before closing. In the end, we were really looking forward to this day. Four friends who had taken a day off, coordinated in advance and arrived especially to celebrate a birthday together and enjoy a pampering experience – and we left feeling very disappointed. We are contacting you because the Daniel Hotel and Shizen Spa are places that are expected to provide a high-level experience, and in our case, unfortunately, this simply did not happen. We would love to receive your comments on these matters and hear how you suggest correcting the disappointing experience we had.
